I want to install a double din in-dash car DVD player in my 2005 Santa Fe: for that I need a double din bezel control trim but it impossible for me to find
one. I live in France where it's impossible to buy one.

Had this hair-brained idea today (I''ll explain at the end). I buy a new cabin filter for my '08. Go to the local auto parts store because the
dealership wants $60 to replace it. I replaced it for
$17.00 and 5 minutes time, no tools.

Long story short, it's been a year this month that I've owned the '08, I've replaced the filter repeatedly on my '02 Santy, how hard can it
be to figure it out? Turns out, it's even easier on the 2nd gen Santy. Absolutely everyone and anyone can change it out on your own without a single tool,
without taking anything apart to get to the filter. Open the glove box, squeeze each side of the glove box inward a little to let the rubber stoppers on both
sides slip past the little grooves they sit in, let the box hang gently on its own and - there is the filter housing sitting horizontally!!! That simple.

Well, I decided to add a hitch to my '08 Santy AWD Limeted without the tow package. When I purchased the Santy, I couldn't see spending the extra
couple grand for a tow package and 3rd row seat when it's just me, my wife and daughter, and hauling a little lightweight trailer and sometimes a hitch
mounted bike rack. . For $180.00, I can install one myself!

A few casual observations that may help someone if they decide to do the same in the future and want a couple pointers!

#1 - I found that etrailer.com was my cheapest option for a purchase (at least when I purchased it, this may change at any given time!) I bought a
Draw-Tite hitch, but the Hidden Hitch brand is identical. They even have an instructional video of an actual install of the very hitch on an '07 Santa Fe
(which will also fit the '08 and I am assuming the '09 thus far -no feedback yet). Shipping was free, but I opted for the 3 to 5 day express shipping
for $7.50 more...

Replacing Turn Signal Stalk

My turn signal stalk began to show its age about a year ago as the 'lane change' resistance slowly faded to nil. Towards the end, it would lock in with
almost no resistance felt. I replaced the stalk with a new one today. I have heard of others having a problem with this so I figured a write-up would be
worthwhile. Just for the record, the part number for the turn signal stalk (without automatic headlights) is 93410-26000. It will run you about $90. For this
DIY, you will need a long Phillips head screwdriver. The project should only take 15-20 minutes.

Before you start, make sure the steering wheel is in a close to dead center (if not dead on) position.

1. Tilt the steering wheel up all the way.
2. Remove the four Phillips head screws on the underside of the column casing trim.
3. Slide the tilt wheel lever up all the way and use a long screwdriver to pry the two column trim pieces apart. The rubber trim...

Project: Increasing Rear Wiper Delay

One of my complaints about the Santy from day one has been the excessively frequent movement of the rear wiper, even in the intermittent setting. I have timed
the delay at 4 seconds or so which is much too frequent. It is so frequent to the extent that I can never leave it in the INT setting because the glass never
becomes wet enough in time. I was content with turning it on and off until I read the book Flash of Genius which told
the story of Robert Kearns' invention of the intermittent windshield wiper and how simple his design was. It consisted of a transistor, a resistor, and a
capacitor. The resistor controlled the rate of flow into capacitor and once it (the capacitor) filled, the wiper would cycle once.

A friend came over not too long ago and we opened up the rear wiper logic box to examine it. I feared it would be totally computerized but imagine my relief
when I saw simple solid state electronics. The current resistance...

Probably one of the least appealing parts of the Santy is the high level of road noise, especially on older pavement or concrete at high speeds. Five pound mallet, deadblow hammer, nothing would make it move. Started wondering was I missing something like a retaining bolt or needing to use a jack bolt like some of the older cars I've owned. After about two hours of banging on this bad boy I needed some advice. I called Kevin at Hyundaii Accessory Mall and he was more than happy to help. Just keep spraying it with WD40 and whack away, no retaining bolts (other than those two usless screws) and no jack bolt.
