The second part of the trip is over the Trinity Hwy. to Willow Creek the home of Big Foot and back. We didn't find Big Foot but the trip was beautiful and
fun. The rest of the afternoon we spent driving around Arcata Ca. and Eureka Ca. looking at the homes and bay on which is called the Somoa Jetty.

The next day we drove to Garberville Ca. and took a trip to down to Shelter Cove. The trip was crazy as the road was very bad and very twisty. The locals drove
it like they were racing and all I was able to drive was 25 to 30. The car over heated a little and the trip was not worth making. We drove back to Garberville
and then drove up through the Avenue of the Giants which goes through the Redwoods and fell in love with...

Okay folks,
Here is a start on the trip. The weather has been weird with rain, fog, mist, and just plain screwy weather. The pictures don't do justice to the real
thing but we tried. The names are on the top of the frames as I haven't had time to do more. I also think the smoke from the fires have something do do
with the sky and then there are the ghost's that seem to take over at times and leave things on the lens and pictures. I don't know what will happen
when we get into the Trees of Mystery and down in the trees where other strange things await.
We didn't get to stop and meet Andrew as because of my pain we didn't leave home in time to stop. We are hoping to meet up on the return trip.

So far the santy has been great but fuel is kinda not good. But she just keeps...

I have finally tired of working dead-end gigs at car dealerships and have taken the step towards an actual career path with a livable wage and benefits. I
applied and was accepted to the NARS (National Academy of Railroad Sciences) for a course to become a railroad conductor. For those who don't know, a
conductor is in charge of the train, keeps tabs on the load and is responsible for making sure the train cars are put together in the correct order. The school
is in Overland Park, Kansas (outside Kansas City) and it's a six-week course, four weeks in the classroom and two hands-on at the Burlington Northern Santa
Fe rail yard. I'm definitely looking forward to the hands-on part.

The Santy is in the shop right now getting the timing belt done for the security factor as I'm leaving on Tuesday morning. I'm excited but admittedly
nervous. Photos of the trip will come, I promise. <img...

We've just returned from a road trip of 3,351 miles to Key West, Florida and back to home through Asheville, North Carolina. The trip was probably 75%
highway and an even split between flat land and mountains, Santy gave me 24.7mpg overall.

We spent the first week exploring Florida, the second week in a rented house on Big Pine Key.While there we attended Fantasy Fest in Key West and as usual it
was very interesting (sorry but can't post those pics). Also attended the Powerboat Championship and it was awesome. The small deer that you'll see are
found only on Big Pine Key and stand two feet high at the shoulder. The rest of the time was spent exploring western North Carolina and western Virginia. Below
find some Powerboat race and wildlife photos taken along the way......

I took this trip up to Carlsbad Caverns back on January 10th, 2007. It was just one of those last minute trips where we called up a couple of friends and made the day trip out there. The caverns were originally discovered while mining for bat manuer, as it is an excellent fertilizer. The miners kept on digging and digging and digging, and the cave kept on going and going and going for a couple of miles underground.

Being that I only live about an hour and a half away, I've been there multiple times, but it's always a fun little trip. If you've never gone, it's a mandatory trip. There aren't many places like it in the world. Like the pictures of Jemez Springs that I posted earlier, I'll let them do the talking.

<img...

Yes folks, it's actually happening! I will be taking the Santa Fe on a coast-to-coast trip. I'm cutting back on my around-town mileage so I can sync the 60,000-mile service within a few days of my scheduled departure date, May 23rd. My destination is the Philadelphia area so I can go back to visit the boarding school from which I graduated in June of 2005.

Stop Cities Are (in order):

Salt Lake City, Utah
Denver, Colorado
Kansas City, Missouri
Indianapolis, Indiana
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Malvern, Pennsylvania

Aside from the 60,000-mile service, I'm having the brakes checked, the tires balanced, and the alignment checked, also.
