Porsche was first; Lexus was second. So Hyundai is tops among all mass-market brands in overall initial quality.

A little more information:

This year's survey included both problems and perceived design defects.

Toyota products won in the most individual categories. But the Tucson took top honors in the compact SUV class. Besides the Tucson, the Azera, Elantra, Sonata and Tiburon all placed in the top three in their classes. Our newly elected Conservative government in Canada promise to lower the national GST on all goods during the campaing.........well for one of the rare time they actually did It last week and as of July 1st the GST will be lowered by 1%.........
Keep in mind that Canada is the most tax country in America..........
The first company that announced that It wouldn't wait for July 1st to have their customer enjoy this is.........

13 cupholders, 3.5-liter V6 with 5-speed automatic transmission, power sliding side doors and of course, Hyundai's killer warranty.

The redesigned Accent 3-door hatchback. Will carry the basic cues of the new Accent but in a coupe/hatchback form.

Late June/Early July

The next-generation Santa Fe comes out. A retuned 2.7-liter V6 will be standard, offering 185 horsepower (up 12 from the current 2.7) and 190 lb. ft. of torque. A 3.3-liter V6 (similar to the one put in the Sonata) will offer 240 horsepower. Hyundai moving upmarket

As many Autoblog readers have speculated since the debut of the Azera (pictured), Hyundai is indeed determined to transform itself into a premium brand. (Also check out Autoblog Podcast 16.)

The Azera launches in the U.S. in December, and according to a BusinessWeek article, the company expects to sell 40,000 units in 2006 and 100,000 in 2007, going head-to-head with the Toyota Avalon, Nissan Maxima and Ford Five Hundred, although priced $1,600 to $4,000 lower. Hyundai has sold 40,000 Azeras in Korea since its launch in May.

The revamped Santa Fe also follows the upmarket strategy, and should hit the U.S. market next year, opposite Toyotas Highlander. Although priced higher than the current model, it will be significantly less expensive than the Highlander.

Hyundai puts minivan back in product plan

LOS ANGELES -- Hyundai Motor America's on-again, off-again romance with the minivan is back on.

In June, Hyundai announced plans to launch its Entourage minivan next spring. The company then canceled that plan in August. But at a Thursday meeting in Las Vegas, U.S. dealers were told that the minivan was back in the lineup -- with the same spring 2006 introduction.

Hyundai also confirmed at the meeting a late 2006 arrival for a stretched version of the Santa Fe SUV that will seat seven. The Korean-built vehicle will be about the same size as a Ford Explorer. It will be based on a stretched version of the Sonata sedan platform.

The stretched Santa Fe will be powered by the 3.8-liter V-6 used in the Entourage, new Azera sedan and redesigned Santa Fe planned for next summer.
