Finally got my 60,000 mile service done, and I noticed now when I started the Santie after a cold start, I hear a loud whining noise that vibrates the steering wheel, especially when revving it up to 2000RPM. After a few minutes of driving, the noise goes away. After googling, this seems to be due to the way the timing belts were tightened.

Is this normal after a timing belt change? Will there be a break-in period where the belts will eventually loosen up and stop whining, or should I take this back in to have the belts adjusted? The problem is, the service center is 2 hours away now, so by the time I get there, the issue will obviously go away since it only happens after a cold start, so I don't know if they'll be able to adjust it correctly without reproducing the whining noise.

Any advice?

Wheel Alignment

Hi,

I think this is my first post. Got a 2007 Santa-Fe 2.2TDi, history is the clutch failed July 2009, and ever since being replaced by my local Hyundai dealer, I get the ESP OFF light coming on after about 10 miles of constant speed around 60mph.

Garage have reset the fault code twice and also "re-aligned the ESP sensors". Fault still there. They now say that wheel alignment might be the cause of the problem.

Now to my question: Would wheel alignment be knocked out when replacing the clutch ?

Reason for my question: The dealer refuses to do the wheel alignment withour payment of £50 (USD $90)

Any feedback most welcome.

If i can get a really good deal on a 2009, i may go that route. One big question I have...what are the biggest differences between the 2009 and 2010? I am mainly looking for visual and powertrain differences. If you parked a 2009 and 2010 next to each other, is there any difference in looks? Any positives or negatives between the V6 powertrain in 2009 vs 2010?

If we go wth 2010 it will be a GLS AWD and the 2009 would be Limited AWD.

Hi All; Newb here. Name's Mark, from Boston, MA. I have an 02 Santy with 78K on it and bought it new, so like the rest of you, over time you are familiar with every squeak, rattle, handling, etc. and overall "feel" to it. So when something crops up, it sticks out and you KNOW it right away. That being said, I have recently noticed that there seems to be some "play" to the way the drivetrain responds upon accel and decel and is most noticeable in slower moving traffic, like when you're following along behind a line of cars that has a stop and go rhythm to it...sort of like a clunk feeling when slowing down and then getting on the gas...a "lag" to it. Sloppy. When you ride in a new car, the accelerating and braking feels smooth and tight as it transitions to gas then to braking, and back again. Mine has a lag of sorts. It almost feels as if it's slapping back and forth and isn't "tight" or seamless, a rocking. Geez, this is tough to explain! If anyone here has experienced/noticed this...

I was looking for some new tyres for the santy last week. Seems the price of tyres has rocketed by the quotes I was getting. It originally had RA07's on it which seemed pretty good, the last set were Nexens....cheap but seemed to wear VERY quickly. After looking around, I bought some Maxxis MA-S1 marauder tyres for it. I hadn't heard Maxxis until I put them on my Nissan QX 3.0 about 5 years ago. I thought they were very good on the Nissan and preferred them to the Goodyear nct eagles I usually bought. The MA-S1's seem to get very good reviews too.
