Dealer lost/misplaced the Fob's for my new Santa Fe which I purchased last Saturday evening. Of course Service department was not open so I was told to bring it back Tuesday.I live 97 miles away so that did not sit well. I was then told to take it to a local auto security shop and have them call the dealer to obtain the numbers required.Local Security Shop says they cannot program the Santa Fe.How difficult can it be to program these things?? Is there anyway I can do it?? Any assistance...

I got my new LX the week before last and the salesman told me that the owners manual and key fobs were locked in the office of a manager who was out of town. He told me to return in a week to pick them up........ well they were not in the office and I was told that they would order new ones and I'd have them in a week or so, they only take a minute to program he says. I asked, if they only take a minute to program why can't you give me a set from one of the other 83 Santa Fes you have in the yard and send me home happy? He said that it was against policy to switch fobs......I asked to see his boss and after jumping up and down for a bit all was resolved. Seems to me that you satisfy a current customer before a potential one.......a no brainer.

Just wanted to say thanks from the owner of a new merlot 2004 Santa Fe (4 cylinder) for saving me a trip back to the dealer for remote programming. I took delivery of mine on a Saturday afternoon and as luck would have it, the salesman was handing me the keys, he discovered that the remote did not work at all (and the service department was closed). A few minutes spent surfing the web pointed to this board and the solution to programming the new remotes. Thanks a bunch!!

Today I was successful in locating the "set" switch for the keyless entry programming after removing the lower knee panel as suggested. On my 2001 model I found the switch on the right side of the fuse panel toward the back hidden by a couple of cable harnesses. A flashlight helped to see it. Programming the two fobs was a "piece of cake".
