Wow Andy...125? Nice job. That photo of mine was around 113 or 114. It was still accelerating although very very slowly. It took me roughly a 30 seconds to get from 110 to what is indicated above. Given more open road I probably could have pegged the needle.

Well there is one more photo. However, it comes with a disclaimer. I ONLY DID THIS ONCE AND FOR A MINUTE OR SO!!! I SPENT THE REST OF THE TRIP IN STRICT OBEDIANCE OF POSTED SPEED LIMITS!

Will say, though. The Santy is very stable at these speeds. It's the crosswinds you have to watch out for.

Blusf02 is correct on the snow fence, they are common in the northern states in open areas, that are usually wind swept, to stop drifting snow. There are similar fences also used in areas that are known wildlife crossing but those are much taller.

I think the fencing you saw and did not know what it was for is for the winter months. I think it holds back the snow drifts. I was in Colorado in the winter and the Interstate was full of them and the snow was banked very high on them. I think that is why they are at a angle and supported to hold the weight of the snow. Really liked all of your photos. Thanks

Heading across the Salt Desert

If you're looking for civilization east of this point, SLC is really your best bet. Neither of the other two towns even had basic services.

This freeway is flat and straight for a good 15 to 20 miles so highway hypnosis is a real problem, especially if you're tired

Okay Andrew are we going to have to call your folks or worse your sister and have your car taken away until you give more pic's of your trip. Or worse are we going to have to tell you folks that they need to send you to Andy for a couple of weeks to get you straight on your responsibility to the forum on your promise for more pictures.

I for one take slight when someone makes a promise to put more pictures up then disappears for days doing g@d knows what and makes everyone start growling to get them.Your starting to sound like the boy who cries wolf.

Within a month or so, depending on how things with this job in the Bay Area go, I'll be packing up with the Santy and driving down to Sunnyvale, California (665 miles one-way). Even with fuel approaching $4 per gallon in some places, I'm not deterred and I'm very excited about this trip. I'll keep everyone updated on the progress and of course, pictures will be taken.
