Kinda quick update to status of campaign..

We done a ton of Sonata & XG, bulk of what we getting currently is Elantra, and Santa Fe starting to crowd in..

We are as of today siittng on 3 Santa Fe waiting on Hyundai to release rear arm kits.. had a car sitting here 2 week, kit finally released to us, so I got the car done last week..

Everybody is back-ordered on parts, we were providing same day service on Sonata, XG, Elanatra till we ran out of Elantra arms and frame.. in last 2 week they have let us have 5 kit, then 4 kit (arms).. we can gind them up.. They finally shipped us 4 Santa Fe frames last week.. We're ok currently with the Sonata & XG frames.

I think what they (Hyundai) is doing is re-stocking, then divide up what they got on hand hand so everybody (dealer) gets a couple..

So if you do have Santa Fe, and it does need arm kit at rear or frame, you might be sitting a week or so as it looks this past week..

Got 1 (Santa Fe) for frame replace and rear arm replace Fri, had the front frame out, and all the parts swapped and ready to install in maybe 1 1/2 hr
(it's a 2WD, makes my life easier)... needs P/S return line, easier to do with frame out, and I'll do it for 1/2 the labor whike frame out, saves next
fella alot of grief if he has to do it with frame installed..

Rears is going to be interesting on this one, has wheel speed sensors on rear, and will likely get trashed..... who going to pay for 2 sensors ?? Likely carry
for 3rd business day to get done, advisor asking after lunch if I though I would have it done.... Dont think so, it close to 6hr job, already added additional
labor time at front for cut an arm off old frame rail.

I have been doing frames everyday for last month or so now, mostly Sonata, couple XG, and Elantra front arms (loser pay job), advisor tells me we working mid
Jan/early Feb with frame recall currently, I do most of them, line them up...

Very good... Not done a whole lot for Santa Fe frame inspects, though had 1 last minute yesterday to finish off the day.. after doing (2) frame replacement
in XG 350 the same day (started 1 when I arrived, had done at 11:10), brought second car in, started at 11:30, lunch at 12, Chick-Fil-A, finish second around
3:25..

My advisors gives me most of the Sonata frame replace, says I am quicker than the other boys. Only done (1) Santa Fe frame myself, hard to beleive with all
the Santa Fe we have for services all the time.

Slade, I "think" your dealers' DPSM is Kimberly, she is really nice gal to talk to and work with. I was thinking of saying something to her
about your situation with dealer saying it looks good and putting you off, but I left it alone.

4wd.... have done arms on them in the past. Not a fun venture, especially when the parts will not dissassemble like a new car.. Rust can sieze slip fit parts
like they was welded together.

I have done (2) Sonata front frame replace in past 2 days (1 yesterday, 1 today), severe rot, rust fall out on floor like dirt. Co-worker had a Santa Fe
inspect today, fella next to me did a Tiburon inspect today, fella across shop had a Sonata for inspect.

Ready for it to be a thing of the past.

After leaving the car for 3 days at the dealer for the recall, I finally got it back with a hefty bill of $1,100. Because they had to remove the whole rear
suspension, some parts that were working fine, could not be removed due to rust, such as 2 rear bearings, hub, left shaft and shocks.

Hyundai elected to pay for the shaft, and some other parts, but refused to pay for the bearings shocks and hub. I will send them a registered letter to pay
me for the above parts still in good working condition and plus for th gas filler tube ($360.00). failing to do so, I will bring them to small claims court and
will send copies of the letter to the Automobile Protection Association and the media.
Car was working fine, but due to their recall, I am $1,100. short in my pocket.

Finally today brought it in for the recal, the front was ok, they did drill some holes then they had to start the back replace the recall parts, the
mechanic told me he had to undo the whole rear suspension and drive to change the parts. he showed me they had a small hole of rust on each one. The rep
told me I would be needing an alignment due to undoing the rear suspension. I just had it done last fall. So I will ge getting it tomorrow afternoon. Its a
long procedure doing the back of the Santafe(4wdrive)

Well, I learned more about the recall, even though you got the letter, Hyundai may have forgotton to enter your VIN into the recall system. If your VIN is not
into the system the dealer won't do it. Call Hyundai and they will call the dealer.

They have to change 2 parts in the rear suspension.

Frames that rot out are either seen as perforation when doing an oil change, or car shows up on hook and dropped out back with tire sitting whopper jaw in the
wheel well... Thank you very much service advisors,,,, no we (me and couple techs that was to get paid for something) gots to waste a bunch of time trying to
get the thing in the shop from off the back lot somewhere,, we aint gots no tow truck, why not drop them inside, really close by ??

Had a couple Sonata where people drive while tires way out of whack and blaze the treads to slicks with major steel cords hanging out... Hyundai dont buy
tires.

In regard to yours, I have (1) Santa Fe that not come back yet,, found hole in subframe on the outside of the frame just forward of the front most control arm
mount.. For the noise, could be simple raod dirt in the sway bar bushings as it rotates with rise and lower of front suspension, though Hyundai made heavier
bushing and new clamps to replace the old style...

Hi ya. SBR, have you seen any front end corrosion? What are the symptoms? As you know, mine was one of the first that had the rear arms replaced under this
recall, but now I think I am hearing frontend creaking. Seems worst as the car comes to a stop and weight shifts forward, then as I start up and weigh shifts
backwards. Maybe it's something with the brakes? Remember, thay also replace the tone rings replaced and they are on the front aren't they?
