Changed out the brake pads on the Santa Fe today. It's surprisingly easy.

Not much happening. We are motor hunting again but this time for the daughter so busy prowling the car auctions for something of interest.

We had snow and ice again here in The Ozarks....the Christmas vacation was extended by a full week but they gotta pay on the other end.

Wow I really stretched this last gas tank without even trying. I filled up on the 1st and got gas again on the evening of the 9th with the gauge just below 1/4. I had gone only 242 miles which comes out to an average of only 30 miles a day, much lower than usual. It's just strange that whenever I try to make a tank last, I can't but when I'm not actively trying, it lasts forever. Traffic has been crap, weather's been crap, plus I haven't had anywhere to be so that helps keep the miles down.

The Canadian border patrol lady yelled at my brother for saying "mmm" before he answered her question. Better yet it took almost three times longer to get back into the U.S.! It was harder to get in our own country as residents than leaving. Maybe they should consider what is wrong with that!

She told me to push my bags through the scanner so I did and stepped forward to wait to go through the metal detector. I did not step forward towards the scanner and she said, "WAIT! Wait until your bags go through." Another employee walked through from the other side with a metal cart with those plastic tubs and it of course, set off the detector. I stepped BACK to let the guy pass and she pretty much screamed at me to wait until it stopped beeping. I said, "I know. I'm waiting and I'm not stupid." She replied, "It's still beeping" to which I replied, "Yes, I know. I have EARS."

Don hit the nail on the head. She's just a small person on a power trip with a badge. Screw the TSA.

Edit: Steff...I had a great time with my family. The flight home was about 6 hours long but it completely made up for the crummy security experience. I had an entire row to myself on a...

Sitting at Boston Logan Airport, waiting for my flight home. Free Wi-Fi is pretty sweet.

The security lady kept snapping at me and it took every ounce of patience in me to keep from screaming back at her. I would have been arrested, imprisioned, charged with assault on a federal officer, etc. etc. Just not worth it.

Winter has come to Northern Arkansas; dratted cold, wind, sleet and maybe some snow blowing in today from those dreaded Okies to the west of us. Trout fishing for the season is all but over (our season lasts all year weather not withstanding) until March. Tourist type fishers not coming in etc. The lodging business has really slowed since Thanksgiving with the odd reservation for Christmas/New Years season. Winter time maintenance and spruce up to be done etc. Roaming the hills in search of the elusive panoramic photo etc...that's about it from The Ozarks.

2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited running strong and Mrs. TG, over Thanksgiving break from school, finally ran the odometer past 1K miles on her '09 Elantra. Three and a half months to get to that point.

Glad to hear you are feeling better Andy. It's a bad time just now for us people with dodgy lungs as the weather is very cold and damp. I am finding it a struggle already at times and we've not even had snow or much frost here.

It's great you're doing better. Chronic lung problems can develop into some pretty nasty stuff.

Last September my usual "seasonal allergic rhinitis," usually just called hay fever, hit me up the side of the head big time. Had me home from work, all kinds of gunk growing in my throat. I was a great medium for various bacteria.

It took a couple of months of different meds, both prescription and over-the-counter, to get it under control. I reminded myself that the more mundane treatments, like raw honey and bee pollen/propolis/royal jelly...

This thread was started by somebody on another forum and it has since exploded into a 950-page monster. I figured anything to help jump start activity on this site is worth a shot. Just post what you've got going on today.

I worked at my dad's office today, landscaping on a fairly basic level (just moved two trees and planted some small grassy plants). Made $35 and filled up the Santa Fe where I paid $48 for 17.15 gallons (low fuel light was on).
