We seldom get on the highway, but the first time we did, we were getting around 22 MPG. We had a long traffic snarl due to road work, and much city driving. We
don't do very well in the city, but we love the Santa so much it's not a big problem - actually, it's better MPG than our old VW Pasatt.

How does yours do?

I have a bit of an update regarding the mpg...
I went to Pensarn, Abergele today. The car already had around 40 miles of urban driving on it. I just filled up to check the fuel consumption, this is what I
got..
Overall mixed driving for 188 miles... 26.4 mpg
Taking into account the 40 miles of urban trips, I have worked out that I got around just over 29mpg today. This was 150 miles of motorway & dual
carriagway at between 50-70mph A/C off. This was with 2 adults, 2 kids. Not bad at all!

....just filled up again after same trip to Wales....152 miles..24.31 litres = 28.43 mpg and happy Santy owner!

Hey old mark,

I also have a 2001 AWD 2.7l. I just filled-up after a tank of 70% highway and 30% city driving. I got the same as you - 22mpg.

I have seen as high as 26 on all highway miles.

My '01 AWD 2.7 gets around 20 in mixed commuting, but I have seen around 27 (yes, I'm serious) on a day trip about 200 miles long. It beats the
wife's '07 Tucson by around ten percent, which ticks her off no end.

All our gas now has ethanol in it, which kills fuel mileage. We have only Congress to blame with their @#%$^&* subsidies.

Welcome to the forum old mark,
We have a 04 and before we had to have the motor replaced we would get around 24 on the hwy. Since they put in a new motor the mpg su$ks at around 20.

Have been thinking of getting rid of it but still really don't want to. It has kind of grown on us.
