My son recently got the word that his outfit will deploy to Afghanistan in early April. At least when he was in Iraq (the "sandbox") at least there were signs of civilization. In the "rock pile" ... not so much.

About that road hazard warranty: I hope those premiums are low.

Let's say you have tires that are about 50% worn, still plenty of tread left and nowhere near worn enough to need replacement yet. You roll over some debris that cuts a tire so it needs replacement, to the tune of about $120 including tax, mounting, and balancing. To maintain equivalent traction characteristics on the same axle (advisable for several reasons), the tire on the other wheel of the same axle also should be replaced. That's $240 total because a tire got cut. They pay only $40 per event, so you pay $200.
