A couple changes this year, and why:
We had always had 9 players on the game day roster. I added a 10th player (receiver). The last couple years we have seen several more receivers in the NFL breaking out. So bumping up to 3 receiver positions instead of 2 makes it a little more competetive at that position for everyone in the league, while helping cover some bad days from another receiver who is active on your roster during game day.
I also bumped the bench from 9 players to 11 players. This helps everyone a slight bit in regards to not having to drop a player or 2 because of bye-weeks or a temp injury. In the past we needed to drop a player we really rather wouldn't, to pick a player up to play a week or two. Having an extra spot or two on the bench can help cut down the transactions a little more, and allow you to keep a couple guys safe from being picked up from other teams.
I tweeked the bonus tiers a little. In the past a RB or WR would get 3 points for a 100yd game, and that was it. I set up 3 tiers for bonus point accumulation for each. They now get 2 points for 100yds. They can get additional bonus points for bigger games, which they couldn't do before. Example: Say a RB gets 100yds rushing. He earned you 2 extra points. Then he gains 175 yds. He earns you 4 additional points (theory here is - 175 yards in one game is a great game, and deserves to be rewarded). But say he goes on to 250 yards? Happens every couple years or so. He then earns you an additional 6 points.(theory here is - he's in the history books, and so should your points be as well) WR is set up on a similar scale but downgraded slightly in terms of yards and points.
Any thoughts or ideas, please let us here them!! We want everyone to have fun here!
Also, in our ever-lasting attempt to get more people to join, we have opened the league up to the public for the first time. In the past 6 years we have always kept "Santa Fe" as part of the main title to our league and kept it focused within our community here. But times have changed, fewer members have joined, and now rather than scrap the game all-together, we are trying something new and give the league a universal name for all Hyundai owners, making the league public and hoping other Hyundai owners from all around will join. Hence the new league name. We had already had two other players from last year with Hyundai's other than a Santa Fe, so we were already universally switching.
The league doesn't begin till a week or two before the season, so we've got all summer to get folks to join. We got this going early enough to catch everyones attention by that time!!
