Light replacements |
Lead | |
|
Hey everyone, I'm not satisfied with my santa fe lights, I'm looking into replacing my bulbs, the only problem is, I don't know how to find any of the product numbers for any of the wedge bulbs, turn signal bulbs, license plate lights, side marker lights, etc. I have asked this question in the forum before but did not get much successful feedback so I'm throwing it outthere again. Responses appreciated!

the headlight bulbs are h4. the fog light bulbs are h3. the front turnsignal bulbs and brake light bulbs are 1157. rear turnsignal bulbs are 1156. side marker, instrument cluster and licenceplate light bulbs are 194. these are all comon bulbs, so any auto store would carry them.

A friend says I should buy some replacement bulbs for my Santa Fe...Recommends H4 Vision Plus bulbs from England and says they are much brighter than my stock U.S. H4's and aren't available in stores here...Anybody had them or have thoughts????

Re: headlight bulbs | ||

ive heard of just about everything aftermarket, but ive never heard of that brand. what is the wattage and price, do you know? if they have a wattage higher than the stock bulbs, id stay away from them (thats probably how they get the brightness). also, if they are brighter than any bulbs found here inthe u.s., they may be illegal for use on public roads (blinding other drivers), and thats why you cant find em!

Here's the link to the site...It says they're 60/55 watt...the same as the stock bulbs. $28 for a pair (including shipping) seemed fair. Gluteus

Re: Vision Plus Lamps | ||

thats an interesting link!! maybe im reading it wrong, but they are saying that the halogen vision plus gives off more light than the xenon filled bulb. ive always came to the conclusion that its the other way around. the vision plus sounds like the equivalancy of the silverstar blubs that are made by sylvania. honestly, my xenon filled liteglow bulbs are cheaper and brighter than the silverstars, but i guess it wouldnt hurt to give these vision plus bulbs a try. the price doesnt seem outrageous, so id say go for it.

It says they are made by Philips. Philips IS Sylvania, so they are probably the same as the Cool Blue & SilverStars bulbs that are available over here.

oh thats right!! i forgot phillips is sylvania. i tried the sylvania silverstar bulbs and i dont care for them. they are expensive and really dont light up as bright as my liteglow zenon bulbs i got for $12 at target.

Vision Plus are in | ||

O.K. I put the vision plus lamps in today and so far, they seem much brighter than my stock bulbs...I need to wait for it to get dark around here to put them to the test. I was at the store today and saw the Silverstar bulbs for $24 apiece! Hard to tell, I think they are a different bulb than the Vision Plus. The Vision plus have a blue colored band around the body of the bulb and are of course $28 for a pair. By the way...Why does the manual have you ratchet the whole headlight assembly off and disconnect everything just to replace the darned bulb? I spent 10 minutes on one side going by the manual and about 30 seconds on the other side just unscrewing the jar lid and undoing the wire clip. Is there some sort of electrical hazard I should worry about, even with the ignition off? Gluteus
