Hi all
Well heres the almost finished pod project,Ha Ha (theres always something else to do)isnt there.
My first problem was what to put into it, after all theres no ones done this before so
it's a case of make it up as i go along,I was glad to get all three parts from Seaniii as the job cant be done without them.
Had to get the pod cowl spay painted to grey to match my dash and had to fit a different pocket under the radio as the original pocket dont fit the new facia.
Decided that the radar detector had to go in and that left a small space to fit an exterior temperature gauge.
I also wanted to have the original 5 (push to make switches) do something so 2 were changed to (push for on type) switches and these work the blue door light LEDs and some of the dashboard LEDs.The other 3 push switches are for my sliding gate motor, garage door operator and a small light for temp gauge.
I also fitted 2 tiny LEDs one green warns about rear parking distance control the other red one is for front parking distance control
The pod hole where the multimeter should go is not that large so it limits what can go in.
also had to make a chassis to fasten all bits together as that would have been done by the multimeter again.
I chose perforated alloy, as its light and those holes are very accomodating and allowed me to bolt through it to secure the perspex section and the black plastic backing together and keep them in alignment, it also made it easy to fasten down to dashboard.
To wire up all the cables was easy as all the plugs on rear of dashboard are easy to remove and refit and breaking into the right wires for side light illumination for pod switches and a main power supply for the pod was simple.
Final wire was the temp probe which went out through passenger door pillar rubber grommet and fastened it with some sticky backed foam rubber.
It has to be said that it was a long project because most of the time is thinking how a certain thing can be done or if it can be done at all and if I could get this part to fit in that e.t.c

Well if iv'e missed anything or you could do with a photo of something let me know.
Doug
