When the mobile windshield replacement guy came by this afternoon, thanks to a rock kicked into my 2002 Santa Fe windshield from a passing Honda yesterday evening, I found out the source of the cabin wind noise that I have experienced since Day One -- noise that I always suspected was coming from the driver's side of the windshield.
As the windshield guy was taking out my cracked windshield, I noticed how easily the gasket popped off on the driver's side. Sure enough, there was a sealant void of about 8" in length at the bottom corner and another 8" void just before the top corner! It appears that the factory robot laying the sealant burped a couple of times when my Santa Fe was coming down the line.
In any event, if you have cabin wind noise, you might want to ask your dealer about the possibility of a robot-sealant "burp."
Other than the wind noise, my Santa Fe has been an exceptionally fine vehicle -- 17,000 plus miles and zero complaints and zero problems!
