Since 2 of mine blew and are not covered by the warrenty, isn't that convienent, and they cost $7.50 each and are not in stock in Victoria as per normal. Anyone know where to get these for a 2004 Santa FE 2.7 L engine?

And here I thought I was the only one with this problem. Interesting that both are 2004.

Quote: Dealer parts dept will keep those parts that is regular everyday moving parts. Does the franchise owner no good to have parts on his shelf he does not sell. They only spend so much on inventory, then the off the wall stuff is simply a few keystrokes and couple days away.. let HMC keep the petty stuff that does not move, it's not like it was a safety issue. |

I have a 04 also and all the lights have gone out with in the last month. sbr711, You say it is not a safety issue. Well I'm here to say that it could be. Driving at night trying to see what the switch is on and not being able to see it could result in a problem. I'm not saying anyone should take their eyes off the road but we all know that it is going to happen with someone. I'm not saying Hyundai should could or anything else. I think everyone would agree that it is a pain to fix the lights and most owners would not have a clue on how to fix it. I also know that most would not or could not have it fixed at the dealer as they charge a lot for working on the santy. It sounds like you are going to school to work on Hyundai's and have noticed a lot of answers to some questions here. So here again you know what to do where a lot on here do not. I think it's nice that you are on the dealers side so maybe in your answers you could send some info as to the part # and maybe even some pictures on how to do it. I have nothing against the dealer making money, but I have nothing against us owners making repairs and saving a lot. Sorry for the rant, shup

They may not be blown. One of mine was out, and I took the dash apart to see what kind of bulb it was (it looks proprietary as the bulb is encased in a plastic sleeve). Anyways, after seeing that, I put it back together with plans on contacting the dealership to order a replacement, and when it put it back together it started to intermittently come on. So I took it apart again, started looking for a loose connection (which I couldn't find) and then swapped the two bulbs. BOTH have been working since.
So, I would take the dash apart (the plugs are all keyed, so you can't put the wrong one back) swap the bulbs and see if they "magically" start working again. I know, it's a long shot, but it'll save you a couple bucks. And it's not hard to take the dash apart - I am by no means mechanically inclined, and I had no issues. |

In regard to the light bulb being and my safety issue statement.. I meant it as the light bulb in the dash being inop was not going to cause any direct safety, yes an inconvenience, but it falls upon the operator to be safe in operating the vehicle, even if it means pulling off to side of raod, then fiddling with the controls.
Anyways, I have been trying to access the Hyundai Dealer website that I have access to, but I am having trouble getting to the on-line parts catalog currently, otherwise I would have posted a part number if applicable. The "parts" section does not seem to load today. I know you have '04 Santa Fe, but need to know if you have the 3 knob manual control head, or the push button control head, seems I have tried to find the bulbs before for somebody. |
