As some of you know, I recently moved to the Ozarks of Northern Arkansas. One of the main reasons is the White River and its world record trout. We hold world's records in Rainbow Trout (19+#), Cutthroat Trout (can't remember the weight) and, until June, Brown Trout at 40#+. Someone told me they heard on the radio the new world record Brown was caught by a lady angler on a river in Montana but have not found a news article nor have I seen a pic but I will dig it out if it's true. Supposed to be 42+#. Yikes!!!
The two pics below are of a friend's cousin who caught this Brown locally in the White River. The white River feeds two lakes, Bull Shoals and Lake Norfork and is controlled by hydro-electric generation by the Army Corps of Engineers. The river is low now because they aren't generating; that leaves lots of shallow pools and gravel/stone shoals. The big trout will find a pool then hang out there until the river rises and they can move about. If you find the right hole, the result is this. The Brownie is 10 1/2# and I don't know the length or girth but it now resides in the taxidermist's freezer awaiting mounting.
Let's try not to trash this thread too much OK fellow anglers and members??

Here's a couple pics of my most recent "little Rainbows" from the White River:

A couple more from my trip up to the Adirondacks over the summer, first is a nice Brownie:

Then a little Brookie:

Finally a nice Northern Pike hauled in from my kayak:

Don't be shy, let's roll
