I do need suggestions though in terms of the draft order. Should we make it random? Or should we have a specific draft order. Keep in mind, the order is reversed in every round by Yahoo default. Can't change that. But we also have it set up for auto draft instead of a live draft. Unless everyone prefers live, thats fine with me also. If we have a set draft order, you can get an idea where you will be picking and line up your potential picks accordingly. Random, is anyones guess!

Web - thanks for the input. Couple good points there. I like the idea of a live draft as well, and I believe that if anyone is not present during the live draft, that as long as they have their players ranked they would get the next highest player on the board automatically. If they didn't rank their players, they automatically get the next highest ranked player that is ranked by the league. That is also an ideal scenario for beginners to some respect.

I don't want to lose people from joining because we have a live draft though, so I'd really like to hear from everyone on this idea. If we end up with an auto draft, no biggie either. I don't think there really is any ideal advantage between an auto draft, and if you have a live draft with only 50% of the members present.

As far as draft order was concerned, if we didn't have a "random" pick, I had thought of an idea that I'm not sure if anyone may be interested in or not? What if - we wait till we see who all joins the league (we set a deadline for joining as you mention) then, the new members this season will get the first picks in an order determined by a number in the hat or some fashoin. The new members would be kinda like "expansion teams" if you will. Then - the teams that were in the league last season would pick next in order of their records (last season Buster finished dead last, so he would get the next pick right after the new teams. I finished 3rd last season, so the best I could do in the draft order is 3rd to the last pick. If the 2 championship game teams Ink and Myahs join again this season, they would end up with the last 2 picks in the round.

The only catch with this idea is, the order reverses in the next round. which means the people who drafted first won't be picking in the 2nd round for awhile. Or - we can flip-flop the process. But perhaps a random order is more fair as you mentioned. I need votes on this as well from everyone!

As for the draft, I was thinking of activating the draft for the last week of August. I figured, this gives us time to get through the preseason injuries, and rank our players accordingly afterwards. But with enough time before the season starts to monitor our players before week one. Yahoo didn't give me a precise date, but it is usually within a day or two after I activate the league to Draft Status. Unless we had a live draft, then we could choose the date/time I believe.

Are you joining webgarages? Be great to have you on board. We've had a couple good seasons so far, and hope to make it better each year! Last season every team was in the hunt for the 1st place finish to the final 2 weeks!!! Same the year before I believe. Even Buster with the worst roster imaginable, was competetive to the finall weeks......though he swept me 3 games last season !

I believe a 4th will be joining soon. My neighbor down the block owns a Santy and his wife an Elantra. Not much of an internet browser, but is a football and FFL fan so I might have him sold on joining as well.

Sounds good. Didn't realize that was you that joined! Great to have you in the league. I was never a fan of having to pay out for the live scoring on Yahoo. But the league started out a few years back on Yahoo and out of tradition we just sort of kept it there! Old habits I suppose.

I will have to give Buster a shout and see if he has a pref as to the draft order. He's not on the Forum here - actually an in-law that owns a Tibby instead of a Santy, but its a Hyundai so that was close enough! He was a lightweight last year that "claims" he's got a new system! ya!

So far the settings will be pretty much the same as last season. With only the couple of modifications mentioned early on in the topic.
