I have a Hyundai santa Fe 2.2 crdt cdx+7 AUTO, which is 11 months old.
I have had it for about 3 weeks now. When i collected it, it showed me that i was achieving around 22 mpg, (hyundai technical sheet states that this should be 26.4mpg-urban, 42.2mpg-extra urban, 34.4mpg-combined). Then, after 1 week, an engine emissions warning light flashed on the dashboard, and eventually stayed on permanantly.
I complained about the poor mpg and warning light to my local hyundai dealer (swindon), who had the car for 24 hours. The service advisor phoned me to state that they would need to "re-generate the particulate filter on the fuel pump", which he believed would extinguish the warning light and should improve the mpg.
When I collected my car, it initially showed 37.7mpg being returned, but has continually reduced all the way down to my best of 29mpg.
I am a qualified driving instructor, and teach SAFED (safe and fuel effecient driving) to pupils. I have tried my very hardest to get my very best mpg, driving 25 miles and ensuring the engine did not exceed 2000rpm at any time, and achieved only 31.9mpg.
The Manager at swindon hyundai tells me that I shold not expect anymore than around low to mid 30's mpg, I DISAGREE, he is now trying to fob me off, they have already found a fault and improved the mpg a little, i believe they havn't quite finished the regeneration process, OR it needs a new one.
Can anyone PLEASE help, eiher technically, or personal experiences.
Thanks very much, regards
Nobby
