Remove this ad Ok, so I am a bit tight on the money front, but what the heck, the new santy comes with rails and bars factory fitted!!!!!!!!!! I have been trying everyone online and visiting local outdoor pursuit shops. My requirements are simple, a quality roofbox that will fit onto the existing factory roofbars. Hyundai UK are adamant that if I can find one that fits and is within a 100kg weight limit total, then they are happy and it wont affect the 5 year warranty. My local maindealer (not being used by me anymore, but thats another story and one I will share soon), along with every other shop & online specialist, insist that I must buy another set of bars and foot-pack (about £120) before ANY box will fit my Santy! However, I have been looking into the Thule Atlantis or Spirit roof-boxes that comes with a unique "claw-like" fixing system. The blurb on this says that it will fit onto any roofbar that is upto 80mm wide, the new santy is just under 80mm. Has anyone got the new santy with fitted rails and bars and has had success with this kind of fitting? Thanks for any feedback Nobby

Have you thought of a small trailer? If it's for the kids, you will be able to keep an eye on them in the mirror!!! 8 cylinders are twice as much fun as 4

The owners book says you can push the front bar further forward, it is just left back to reduce wind noise. But, there is not any more locating holes near the front to give any more that 850mm between the bars. Anyone got answer to this, am I doing something wrong ? I just want to fix a huge THULE roof box.

I have a 2007 and I remember reading something about removing the two forward black spacers on the rails to further extend the cross rails. Even a monkey falls out of a tree once in awhile. KC

Posts: 2 (01/06/09 12:41:28) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Killer Charlie, You are right, but when you remove the 2 rubber spacers, there is not any more than about 4 inches that you can move the roof bars by as it needs to click into a locating hole. Otherwise, if you push the bar further up, it will just slide back and forth. In other words, removing the 2 rubber spacers and the 2 torx screws doesnt really help much in getting more space between the 2 bars. So, if I then fit the THULE roof box, it fits OK but it is so far back on the roof that I cannot open the tail gate. Maybe I get a tow bar and a trailer instead ?? Or stick a few passengers on the train !!!! Cheers, Graeme
