All,
'03 Lx went to the dealership for routine oil change two weeks ago, and they did a walk around as a courtesy. Tech found that the transaxle boot on the driver's side as spitting grease out, so they put one on order. Fell under the 100k warranty (of which we have 20k miles left on at this point). Part came in a week later and it was about an hour in the shop while the wife got a ride to do some shopping (note to Hyundai techs... lie to the wives and tell them to just take a seat... why add salt to an open wound?) LOL.
I was pleased not so much for the part being under warranty, but the fact that they cared enough to look and spot it before it went totally bad. Hats off to the Crane Hyundai service department in Sherwood, Arkansas.
A few nights later we began to be hounded at dinnertime to participate in a quality survey. And of all things, wife had to fill out a three page questionaire to verify that we were, indeed, the original owners of said Santa Fe, complete with VIN, copy of registration, etc. Hello, warranty police calling! Small price to pay I guess for having the work and parts done for free, but we've had our SF serviced at the same dealership since she was new in '03.
They also put the screws to the wife, badgering her to trade her in on a new one. I like the concept, but not as much as having no car payments for a while.
They also noted that the battery was starting to fail, only having about 300 CCA in it. I think that's enough to make it through the (relatively speaking) Arkansas winter, but I'll definitly start shopping soon. Otherwise... no problems!
