OK - I have two remotes and neither work very well. They sometimes unlock the doors, but don't lock them at all - and therefore the alarm is not set. These
are the two button, egg shaped remotes with a tiny, tiny unlock button and a larger, square lock button. The (toyota) dealer I got the car from claims that the
computer circuit for locking is bad in both of them and also claims to have called a H-dealer near them to order new fobs for me (at toyota dealer's cost).
It has been two weeks and I have not heard anything, but I have searched online for same fobs and they are hard to find - and cost about $100 each.
Am I stuck with this fob, or will the newer, three-button one work on my 2002? It is narrower and has the larger lock button and a small, square unlock and small square panic button. They are a LOT cheaper and I am thinking I am gonna have to get these - and pay for them myself - because the dealer is dropping the ball.
Also, is the programing the same as in the later (2005) models? The box is somewhere under/behind the steering wheel? Anyone with photos of the drivers foot-well showing location?
