Installing Chromed Wheel Covers |
Lead | |
|
OK - just got my 19" chrome wheel covers from Korean Auto Imports. They come with 6 self adhesive pads for each cover. Anyone know where these are to be
placed on the rims? On the spokes? On the part of the rim between the spokes? Didn't come with instructions

I don't think I have ever seen them and couldn't find them on their website. Could you post a picture please?

Here's a link to the covers:

I didn't see them on the website. Did you get them fitted?

I was looking at the pictures on the website and thought that they might be secured by the lug nuts. If you don't want to use the adhesive you could give
that a try.
Santa Fe -- It doesn't get any better than this!

I see what you mean Andrew. The top picture looks like they may be held on by the wheel nuts but it's hard to tell for definite. My touring caravan has
wheel trims on it that are held on that way so I have seen that type of fitting before. I doubt I would trust just double sided tape to hold them just in case
one fell off.
Did you get them fitted yet and if so could you post pictures. |

If they're not secured by the wheel nuts, then they're a poor design, if it's just tape holding them in place, it would mean you having to pull
them off if you needed to remove the wheel...

Yes - they are secured with the wheel nuts. I was just wondering where to apply the tape. I think the tape in more to prevent the covers from rubbing against
the rims and so preventing any noise when driving. I haven't had a chance to put the covers on yet but will post pictures when I do. As I said above these
covers are very well made - very thick ABS with a real nice finish. A bit pricey but a lot cheaper than 18" chrome rims.

Best way would be to do a test fit first without the tape, then, have a closer look and see where the tape might help...
A rough guess would be on top of the arch's, roughly in this area...: -
But as I said, try a test fit first WITHOUT the tape, at least then you'll be able to tell properly where to use the tape if at all... Pop some photos up once you get them sorted...

Hi,
I was wondering if you have these installed yet and what you think of them as I'm considering ordering them too... Thanks! |
