And the neatest thing about the Santa is that you probably would have gotten better gas mileage if you were driving faster!

Really? What speed would give better gas mileage?
I just did my first "long" trip last week in my 02 (bought two months ago). It was 360 miles round trip and on the first half I got 24 mpg doing 75 with the AC on and cruise control. This included an hour or more at crawling speeds getting out of Chicago. Have not bought gas since I got back - so don't know what the return trip was at 65 mph, no AC, etc. |

After I got my '01 Santa last fall the bride and I took a day trip to visit a cousin I see maybe every ten years or so. The trip was rolling hills and
about 220 miles with highway speeds around 70-75 MPH. I started with a full tank and, on the way home, I packed it full with 8 gallons. (By "packed"
I mean that I put one more gallon in the tank after the nozzle began cutting off.) You do the math: At 27.5 MPG with an eight year old car having almost 100K
miles, I was a happy camper. The old '96 Kia Sportage wasn't any better and was a whole lot less comfortable!
