Air Bag Code B-1346 |
Lead | |
|
Does anyone know what Air bag Code B-1346 identifies! I had a friend check the reason the Air Bag Light would not extinguish using a code reader. This code
presented as an old trouble, he cleared it but the light illuminated again after driving a short distance(seemed to react to braking?) He put the code reader
on a second time 2 days later and cleared it again(it still presented as an old trouble?) But this time the Air Bag light has not illuminated for 50+ miles so
far?

B-1346 indicates high resistance in the first stage circuit of the driver airbag squib (the one on the steering wheel).
Problem there is there is multiple connectors from SRSCM to the end at the squib. "IF" I had to venture a wild guess, the "clock spring" (Toyota calls it a spiral cable) between the squib and steering column might have an open circuit in the ribbon cable inside the housing... |

This is what I have for a 2003 w/2.7L, as fella has 1 in for oil change right now, so part number might be correct for some in general -

sbr711 wrote:sbr711, Thanks for your help the "CLOCK SPRING" makes a great deal of sense, especially the way the light illumination seems to be in sync with motion of auto after being reset. After last reset, it went on then off with around a sharp turn! I'm scheduled to have it replaced as soon as part is obtained by repair shop, should be this week, Thanks again

sbr711, You hit it right on the head,"CLOCK SPRING" | ||

sbr711, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you You hit it right on the head with your "wild guess" it was the perfect diagnosis for air bag code B-1346? And replacing the "CLOCK SPRING" was the perfect remedy for this problem! We just finished driving 1000+ miles from NY to FL and there was only the initial illumination @ Start-Ups after that the system worked fine. We had a mechanic/technician that is also a relative check the code & replace the "CLOCK SPRING" @ a reasonable cost. Thanks very much for your help, we really appreciate it! CLOCK SPRING Part# 93490-26000

Very good.
SRS is alway checking itself to make sure all components is in order and ready at moments notice. When first turn key on, SRS light will illuminate, go out after moderate "6" count if all is well with its' self test. If it go out after test, then come back on, or is on while car running, there is a fault somewhere, and scan will reveal the fault code. Did you pop the cover on the old part and pull the ribbon out to see if you could find the break in the wire inside that ribbon ?

sbr711 wrote: sbr711, I just examined the ribbon carefully several times and could not pinpoint the failure? There are "6" wires in the ribbon "2" of which are heavier then the others, but no smoking gun among them? But the system is working fine now thanks to you!
