I just got back into town last night from a week in Boston and jumped into the Santy to go get a quick bite. The car had not been run since December 1st and it has been VERY cold while I was gone (down to 7ºF at one point). My Santy is garaged so it was protected from the brute force of the cold.

On my way back from grabbing food, the tachometer began acting strange. I was cruising down a city street at about 30-35 mph and the tach would erratically shoot up from about 1700 rpm to 3500 rpm without me giving it more gas and with no change in revs at all. If I put my foot down, the car would perform normally and going to 3500 rpm definitely created an increase in noise and speed. With the erratic reading there was none of this. I pulled over and checked the throttle cable to make sure it wasn't sticking. All was hunky dory.

It's about 20º right now and I'm about to go apply for a job so I'll see if it does it again. I wanted to see if anybody had some insight or experience with such a problem in colder weather.

Santa Fe -- It doesn't get any better than this!

"Like people, every car possesses a unique character, with its own DNA, talents, and idiosyncrasies. Push it too hard and it'll turn on you, as a person would. If it's worth anything, it gets more interesting the more you get to know it."
