Remove this ad I'm picking up my Santa Fe this week, and they are trying to sell me additional Rust proofing for $800, cloth seat protector, $600 and acid rain protector $400 for a $1700 package. He tells me that the rust proofing is done at the factory. Is the original enough? The cloth seat protector, for me is called a $4.00 can of Scotch Guard. Thank you in advance.

The cars are indeed rust-proofed from the factory and whatever the dealer is going to do can't beat simply keeping the body and undercarriage free of salt. As for the cloth seats, you're smart...just go the Scotch Guard route and be done with it. And dare I ask what an acid rain protection package is? Sounds like more overpriced B.S. I'd just pick up your car and go on your merry way. Santa Fe -- It doesn't get any better than this! Posts: 2 (01/11/10 16:40:39) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Live in the North East, and around here, there was the acid rain scare created by heave industry in Pa. and Canada that they said got into the air stream and caused all types of corrosive issues. I think the Feds have cleared up this these industries

Like Lovemysantafe said the dealer packages for the most are a complete waste of your money. Just keep it clean and a good coat of wax on it and you shouldn't have any trouble.

Your best protection for your paint job is washing with mild car-wash cleaner (if you use dish-soap or detergent you strip the wax) and regular waxing. When the water no longer beads-up after a rain you know a new coat of wax is needed. My philosophy is "if these were such great and needed products and treatments, then the factory would already be doing it before shipping the cars".
