After reaching 55,000 miles a month or so back I noticed my 3.5L 2004 baby was losing about 1-2 MPG in mileage. Everything else seems fine, although it does run a little rough from a cold start in the morning, tends to pulsate a little until I drive it for a while, then the engine idles more smoothly. I'm at 58,000 miles now.
I'm thinking it's the fuel filter needing to be replaced, since the manual says it should be replaced after 52,500 miles and I've been following every other maintenance schedule to the letter except for that, but I wanted to make sure so when I go into the dealer I can blow them off when they tell me I'm losing mileage because I need a new engine, and wouldn't I like to just trade it in and get a new car now?
Unless I really do need a new engine??!?
