Posts: 47 (02/28/10 12:43:22) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None Remove this ad Hey all, Trying to change my struts and have all the bolts removed off the strut except for the very bottom one that connects the strut to the knuckle... its on both sides... top came out nice and easy but the bottom ones are stuck on there. i dont want to cut them off if i dont have to. anyone have any tips? I have the brake callipers and rotors removed to take a lot of the weight off the knuckle thinking maybe the weight is causing the bottom bolts to not move but thats not the case. any recommendations are much appreciated!

Posts: 367 (02/28/10 18:16:14) Moderator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Soak it with PB Blaster, and a 1/2 drive impact is usually your friend.. sometimes need to use long breaker bar to break bolt loose and get it to spin, then work it out. I assume you do have the vehicle off the ground with control arms hanging, correct ? Worst case would be to pound it loose, but then you mushroom the threaded end, so tou need to visit dealer for new hardware.. You being in Cincy area, parts come from Aurora/Chicago depot.. couple day normal stock order, or if Columbia friendly to you, the will get "E" order (next day) at no extra charge... see what they will do for you.

Posts: 48 (02/28/10 19:22:22) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	thanks. i had the things soaking in PB Blaster all night and sprayed again a few hours before i started again this morning. i had the impact wrench on it and it didnt want to budge. i finally took a small sledge hammer and pounded it out. threads are ok on it still. just have to replace a few nuts. no biggy. im gonna have to go to the stealer any way because i need to get some of the clips that hold the brake line on to the strut though. couldnt figure out how to get those off so i bent them and pulled them off. me and columbia dont get along too well.... im gonna make my way out to superior instead. they have been a little easier to deal with. thanks for the suggestions

Posts: 50 (04/06/10 12:29:02) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	got it all done. havent checked this forum in a while. everything went nice and smooth after i got the bolts out.. ended up pounding them out with a small sledge hammer. the car handles sooo much better now. thanks a lot!
