2003 Lx model now has the light bulb burned out behind the "D" transmission indicator in the dash. No big deal, but I would like to try to keep her in new condition as long as possible. Other than a torn drive boot those are about the only problems we've had with her. About 125,000 miles and still going strong despite the fact that Mrs. Hellonwheels drives it almost solely. Still gets around 21 mpg, peaked out at about 23 mpg a few years ago when *ahem* I was driving it more.
Anyway, having never been behind the dash before, are these light bulbs easy to get at?
Starting to show some age, not from mechanical or body issues but the wife works downtown and it seems the car is a dent/ding magnet now. Not that she has EVER hit anything with it, oh no. She'll tell you that right way. Whatever. She backed it along a brick wall for a couple of feet (has admitted to that one), has backed it into a pole a put a nice crease in the rear bumper (admitted to that one too) but otherwise has piced up a few scrapes and bruises here and there. I don't know if I want to get the bodywork and paint done to make it look like new since we plan on driving it another 100k at least or just let it go as I'm sure as long as she works downtown there will be other mishaps.
Started looking at the 2010 models year before last but got turned off by the higher prices and the downgraded materials and build quality. Surely have gotten my money's worth out of it. Wife's new toy is a 2006 Mazda Miata that she got for Christmas. And yes, she already has had a fender bender in it, though it was not her fault. Fun little car to drive, would be nicer if I was 30 years younger and 100 lbs. smaller.
Happy Thanksgiving to all you Santa Fe owners / drivers out there!
