I went looking for a Hyundai this past spring 2005 and went to my local Hyundai dealership in Sheboygan, WI. I offered no trade in and was paying cash. I did my homework and researched the Internet by joining several forums and knowing what others were paying for their Hyundai. While I don't want to post names, I will say that the salesman reminded me of the type that my father dealt with in the 1970's that tried using every trick in the book to sell me a car I didn't want (wrong color and with 500 miles on it already) and seemed like he didn't listen to one word I was telling him when explaining what I wanted, didn't want, and what I was willing to pay. He tried to get me to purchase their extra "oil change/ pin stripe package" for around $1,000 even after I told him several times that I didn't want it. I had a price in mind that I was willing to pay and wouldn't budge knowing what others were paying for their Hyundai. He took his little piece of scratch paper to his boss to "see what he can do for me." The sales manager came to chat with me and after some small talk in which I woudn't budge on my price, proceeded to insult me by telling me that " I just want to brag to my chat room buddies on how I screwed the dealership" after I told him that I was willing to pay the going price that I was seeing others getting their car for on a few Internet forums. I ended up walking out of the dealership right past the sign that says "NOBODY WALKS." I called another dealership 30 mins. away in Fond du Lac, WI and got the car I wanted with no hassle. The salesman treated me absolutely like I would expect. Believe it or not, the salesman at the Sheboygan dealership had the balls to call me a few days later and ask how it was going and was I still interested in buying a Hyundai from him. I had a nice phone call with him telling him how stopping at his dealership was the worst car buying experience of my life and he had some real nerve calling me. I had great satisfaction letting him know that I bought my Sonata with no hassle whatsoever at another dealership and that they gave me the price I asked for with no squabbling at all. Now... fast forward 5 months to this week. I'm in the market for a new Santa Fe and decided to stop in at the Sheboygan dealership to pick up a brochure. A salesman, (a different one than this spring that sits in the next cubicle to the one I was dealing with this past spring) introduces himself and starts telling me about the Santa Fe. I told him I needed one without a sun/moon roof for the extra head room as I have in my Sonata, and he asks "who did I deal with when I bought my Sonata?" I told him that I couldn't come to terms with this dealership and ended up buying one in Fond du Lac. So, here this other salesman tells me " I remember you, you're the guy that expected us to GIVE YOU A CAR." I responded by telling him that my new Sonata is sitting right outside and that you guys were the ones that were the losers as I paid cash and had no trade in to hassle with. The salesman responded by saying that "they are a business and not everybody gets the car for the price I got it for." Anyway, after seeing a trend with two salesman and a sales manager that like to insult their customers, I would NOT RECOMMEND going to the Sheboygan, Wisconsin Hyundai dealership. See the staff at the Fond du Lac, Wisconsin Hyundai dealership. It's a nice clean dealership that is ultra modern and all I can say is that I was treated very nicely.
